Created by hand, these collages explore the ideas of passing time and nostalgia. The people in the collages are cut from various books on tourism. Relocated from family snapshots and tourist brochures, I create a less representational and more existential destination for them. By isolating the figures and placing them into unfamiliar environments, they become more mysterious and seemingly introspective.

Sarah McDonald is a 27-year-old from Nashville, TN. She prefers to be outdoors, and can usually be found hiking or biking. Her work often focus on travel, place and the passage of time. In addition to collage, her creative pursuits include bookbinding, sewing and photography. She will receive a BFA in Photography from Watkins College in the fall
